On June 18, 2020,  residents of Upper Rockridge came together for a vigil in support of Black lives and the chalk stairway project. Neighbors reflected on the lives lost due to systemic racism and police brutality. Alongside Councilmember Dan Kalb, neighbors demonstrated their commitment to stand together in recognition of the inherent worth and dignity of every person, regardless of race or culture.
